Who Is Eli Horn?
The eldest of three boys, born and raised in San Francisco. He has
lived in the Ingleside neighborhood for 24 years. Eli Horn is a
graduate of prestigious Lowell High School in San Francisco and holds a B.A. degree in Social Science from San Francisco State University and a Master’s Degree of Public Administration from California Sate University, Hayward.  After college he worked as a financial analyst and housing specialist for HUD. 

He is the Executive Director of the Visitacion Valley Community Beacon Center.  The Beacon Center, in partnership with public and private agencies offers opportunities, services and activities that promote the healthy development of children, youth, families and residents in Visitacion Valley.  This community center is part of the city-wide Beacon Initiative.
http://www.sfbeacon.org Under Eli’s leadership the Beacon Center was awarded by The U.S. Department of Justice, a Weed and Seed grant. Weed and Seed money aims to prevent, control and reduce crime in neighborhoods with high crime. The Beacon Center collaborates with law enforcement agencies and community-oriented policing to provide prevention and intervention programs, along with neighborhood restoration programs.

Eli's passion for the community, youth services and crime prevention/intervention extends beyond his 10-year tenure at the Beacon and includes volunteer positions. Eli is serving a 2nd term as a Juvenile Justice Commissioner. He champions finding alternatives to incarceration for non violent offenders.  Eli serves on the Board of Directors for Tremor Action Network,
http://www.tremoraction.org  to shine the spotlight on more than 10 million people in the United States with a disorder so common but yet so unrecognized (Katherine Hepburn is our most famous example).  He is co-chair of the UCSF University Community Partnership Council. He works tirelessly as a spokesperson for health and employment for the Southeastern section of the City.As of 2007, Eli is a fellow of LeaderSpring.  Its graduates lead high-performing, innovative non-profits to improve scope of critical social services and advocacy within communities they serve.

Eli's favorite way to relax is listening to music.  Among his favorite artists are Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Ray Charles, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Fleetwood Mac, just to mention a few.  He also enjoys reading.  The last three books he read are Bill Clinton's, Collin Powell's and Vernon Jordan's biographies.
